ORGANISATION DESIGN AND STRUCTURE
The second session was held on July 1st and 2nd at Jumeriah College from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
Our Instructor for the new session was Dafydd Jones, a very interesting young man, who took us through organisational design and structure, team work and motivation.
Why is important to have an organisational design and how does it benefit the individuals and the organisation? This is the question that came to my mind.
Thinking about the past 12 years of my experience with Our Own I can see that the organisational design and structure have been changing based on the needs, as the school progressed year after year.
In addition to this, with new leaders taking up positions plush with their new ideas, designs have also changed .
As organisations should move with time and maintain improved results, performance and financial security, it is mandatory that the structure and the design changes.
Dimmock and Walker's statement on organisational structure befits with my school's organisational structure. They have said that an organisation structure is affected by the physical fabric, financial resources, curriculum, timetables, academic year, human resources, teaching approaches, to guidance and counselling and decision making process.
It is important to have an organisational design because :
It clearly specifies the role of each indivdual and defines the nature of their relationship.
It builds team spirit, by making everyone feel that their contribution is highly valuable.
Decisions can be made collectively on major assignments and projects and then work towards the common goal.
